How Are YOU Using Modern Technology to Further the Kingdom of God?

Well, here it is … I have finally entered into the Seventh Decade of my life! And, what a Seven Decades that has been! “Buck Rogers” has become a reality! Dick Tracy’s “Wrist Phone” has become a reality! “Phone-a-Vision” has become a Reality (we call it SKYPE!). “Driverless Cars” have become a reality. “Cloned Sheep” have become a reality (they called her Dolly, and she lived for six years!). And, the advances are not going to end soon!

For example, here are a few of the “major advancements” for 2018: 3D Metal Printing; Cloud-based AI Services; Babel Fish Earbuds and the Perfecting of Online Privacy. I almost shudder to think of what lies in store over the next decade or two – – I’m not sure my intellect can keep up with these advancements – – I’m not sure I will be able to have even a cursory knowledge of what the smash is going!

That brings us to the question at hand: How Are YOU Using Modern Technology to Further the Kingdom of God? Now, obviously we can’t clone ourselves to create a greater Christian Army, nor, via the “Space Age” Evangelize the rest of the Universe! We can, however, use what has become “run of the mill” technology – – – – and, perhaps more than we already are!

As usual, I can only use myself as an example ‘cause I’m the only one I really know about. So, let me take a minute and share with you some of the ways I use modern technology for the Kingdom of God.

Cell Phones have become an integral part of everyone’s life, even mine! In fact, my phone is extremely high tech: I can make phone calls and send text messages with it! A number of years ago, I discovered that I can use the telephone in a most unique way: Every time the phone rings and I answer it, I do so with the following greeting: “Good Morning, God Bless You!”

I discovered this serves two purposes: One expected, and one not expected! First, I get to Bless everyone that calls, which, of course, is my intent. Secondly, I have more salesman and crank callers just hang up than you can shake a stick at! Now, the interesting thing here is, no one can complain about my witnessing because they called me! Are you missing out on this opportunity to further the Kingdom? This year, I am adding a new twist: “Good Morning, If God be for us, who can be Against us?

Another great witnessing tool I have discovered is the E-Mail System. I have a list of 135 people or so, who I send a verse of scripture and a word of encouragement to every month. Following is the one I sent in December:

I don’t know how it happened, but Christmas 2018 is just around the corner! As we prepare for the Holiday Season again, my mind is automatically drawn to Isaiah 9:6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Not only did the Three Wise Men set the precedent for giving gifts at Christmas, the Baby Jesus was the greatest gift ever given! His Father sent him from the Realms of Glory to bring Everlasting Life to a hurting world!

As you prepare your home for the Holiday Season, make sure you have also prepared your Heart for Jesus – – the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. If you haven’t accepted the Gift of Eternal Life by asking Jesus into your Heart, do so right now! After all, there is nothing worse than an unopened gift at Christmas time!

Have a Blessed Day and a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS,

Floyd

Frequently someone will reply and tell me how much they appreciated the thought I shared with them. But, and this is the important part, NO ONE has written back and asked me to not send them one anymore! You see, I use E-mails to fulfill the dictates of Luke 8:4-15 (KJV) And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? 10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. 11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

The reason I “plant the seed,” is summed up by Paul in 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 (KJV) I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. What it boils down to is, as long as we plant the seed we have done what is required of us – – it will be God “that giveth the increase!”

Without a doubt, you are far more technologically advanced than I am. But, the question still remains … How Are YOU Using Modern Technology to Further the Kingdom of God?
